Terms of service

Draft for review

These terms govern your use of the MyTaxFiling website, web app and mobile app operated by Tax Filing Limited. By using the service you agree to them.

Who we are

MyTaxFiling is operated by Tax Filing Limited, an independent commercial software provider. We are not part of HM Revenue and Customs, and we are not a firm of chartered accountants.

What the service is

The service provides software tools to help you record income and expenses, understand your tax position and prepare UK Self Assessment filings.

The service provides general information and software assistance. It is not personalised tax, financial, accounting or legal advice, and using it does not create an accountant-client relationship. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit and for meeting your own filing obligations.

Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account, keep your sign-in details secure, and tell us promptly if you believe they have been compromised.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to create an account.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service, including attempting to access other users' data, probing or disrupting our systems, uploading unlawful or malicious content, or reselling access without permission.

Fees

Any fees for paid features will be shown before you subscribe and set out on the pricing page. Free features may be offered. This section will be completed as paid plans launch.

Intellectual property

We own the service, its software and its content. You may use them only as these terms allow. You keep ownership of the data you enter into the service, and you grant us the limited rights needed to store, process and back it up in order to provide the service.

Liability

The service is provided with reasonable skill and care, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we do not guarantee any particular tax outcome, refund, saving or HMRC acceptance.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on general information in the service, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Ending the service

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms, or where we need to protect the service or other users.

Complaints and governing law

Complaints are handled under our complaints procedure, linked in the footer.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Where the law allows, disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will give reasonable notice of material changes through the app or this page.

These pages are working drafts and will be reviewed and completed. If you have questions in the meantime, please contact us.
